Burnside Primary School will provide a Year 8 Parent Information Evening for current Year 6 and 7 families to attend.

This website will provide you all the information regarding zoning for entry to Government High Schools.

Timelines -

The following timelines are a guide to support you through the High School application and transition process.



Please ensure you address details are updated at your current school.

Term 1

High School Enrolment Pack distributed to students and families. 

This will contain all the relevant  information for the Government High School your child is zoned to in year 8

Applications for most Special Interest Schools will need to be submitted – please liaise with your preferred school.


IMPORTANT: Even if your child is enrolled and expected to attend a non-government school, parents are required to return the ED176 (Application for enrolment in Year 8) form.   

Term 2

ED176 application form for High School must be completed and returned direct to your child’s classroom teacher by deadline date in May.

Advice of Special Interest School Placement will be sent to families from preferred school


Term 3

Students and families notified of the Government High School they have been accepted into.

Mid August - Closing date for appeals.

Early September - Outcome of appeals - Parents notified.


Term 4

Late in term 4 - Transition visits to High Schools - TBA
