We have become increasingly aware of the importance of bridging the gap between home and school. There are benefits for everyone when you become involved in the school community. You, as parents, become more familiar with the things that are happening in the school, your children will take pride in seeing the work you have done and the staff appreciate the help given.

The school policy on Parent Participation and Involvement emphasises this and outlines how the School Council and Parent Association play central roles in defining, coordinating and monitoring parent participation and involvement in the school while the Parent Class Representatives liaise between teacher, parent and the Parent Association.

The Governing Council is comprises of up to 23 members, including elected parents, two elected staff members, one member of the Parents & Friends Association and the Principal. Elections are held at the AGM and nominations open for a month before that meeting. Council appointments are made for a two year period. Governing Council meetings are held in the staff room beginning at 7.30 p.m.

Each council member is expected to be a member of one of the Sub Committees that have oversight of the following areas:

  • Finance
  • Business
  • Education / Sport
  • Asset Management
  • Community Involvement

Formed from the parent community, this association plays an extremely important role in welcoming new parents to the school, providing social contacts, school information and raising much needed funds for school amenities. An executive is elected at the AGM each year to coordinate activities, and parents are welcome to attend any or all meetings held regularly. The Parent and Friends Association is affiliated with Governing Council. For more information about the Parents and Friends Association click here.
